Happy Valentine!
This day stands in symbol of people coming together, loved ones and lovers, or other forms of love. Even though I won't be writing today, because I'm spending time with my honey in Chinatown, there is something to be said for two people coming together to make something greater.
In the 5 book young adult fantasy series we're writing, not only are the writing/editing duties going to be shared between Nancy and myself, but breaking with the traditional format of one hero saves them all, we're introducing two heroes, who have to come together in unity to defeat the 'bad guy'. They are siblings, one boy, Simon and one girl, Sally. Each book stars one of the two (perhaps with a little coverage of the other sibling) with the final 5th book starring them both. Nancy will write from the female perspective and I will write from the male one. Both characters will have different problems to overcome and develop different special powers (it is fantasy after all) but they will realize they need to complement each other at the end.
There is a lot of Yin/Yang and Sun/Moon symbolism going on, where the different aspects of masculine/feminine are explored, of course without becoming sexual (this is a young adult oriented story after all). I'll explain more tomorrow, but I hear fireworks going off, which means only one thing: I'm late for the Chinatown parade! Aaaahhh...gotta go..
Love.
