Message Longer Than 140 Characters

Best laid plans....

I looks like my experiment is about to fail. I won't be able to finish 'This Is A Book' in time to meet my deadline of a week. Darn. Oh well. I'm writer enough to admit it. It was going well on Monday and Tuesday, as I pumped out chapter after chapter, but then I just had to insert my own little 'Stephen King' story. That's what did me in (not unlike the many victims of Mr. King's stories themselves). Obsession. Because the book focuses on what draws writers to write and readers like us to read them, I wanted to insert my own token short stories. I had planned to write a simple 'Boy Wizard' story and add a 'Teen Vampire' one to it.

And then I came up with the brilliant (?) idea of adding this one little story that came to me in a dream. Well, two full nights of typing in a hot dark living room until 2 a.m. later and I sure empowered that impulse. It just kept me going! I was obsessed. The story certainly is in there now, but I only have one day left and there's no way I'll be able to wrap the rest up in time. Let alone actually write the other two stories. And then of course I still have to DTP it. Groan....

Oh well. It was fun and that's what counts, right? I've gotten tremendous support from everyone along the way (alley? If we're sticking with road metaphors), so thank you all. And don't worry: you'll get to read it, but it will take me a little longer. Nancy still has a few more trips up her sleeve this month, so maybe I'll extend the deadline a week or two. Just so I can at least present something that's longer than forty pages and half-decently designed.

The spontaneous creative effort continues. It will tonight. And (hopefully) it will be done at th end of this month. Still no edits. Still no agent (sorry fine arbiters). No frills. No costs. And still absolutely free. The added value of waiting a little longer now? Find out. Three weeks from now.

This Is A Book.

Coming to you soon.

....just a little longer than I had hoped.
